Message from the President

Welcome to the web site of The Alumni Association of Southern Industrial Institute / Lyman Ward Military Academy. On behalf of the officers, I welcome you. Since our founding in 1898, our campus has been through many evolutions; yet still embodies the look and feel of the special place you remember. The campus spirit and heart are very intact.

Whether you attended briefly, or for many years, are a graduate, were a student, faculty, or a friend of this special place, we welcome you. This is your alma mater, a cornerstone of your personal history. Perhaps you will renew or re-build ties with our fine institution.

Ms. Amanda Kelly is your center's wonderful Executive Director. The center (located right by the main gate) is a capsule in time chock full of wonderful exhibits. Amanda wears many hats but one crucial role is that of historical archivist. Should you have any old photos or movies from your days in Camp Hill, we encourage you to pick a few favorites and send us copies with a descriptive note. These cannot be returned but they will be used in the museum, on-line, our newsletters and portable static displays.

Please do keep us informed: births, deaths, marriages, address, career changes, achievements, etc.

If you have fresh ideas, questions, an interest in how you can help ensure the center will endure for future generations, or simply want to catch up, we would love to speak with you!

Story:
Lyman Ward dedicates football field

J.D. Gooden was the first head football coach at Lyman Ward Military Academy to walk on the current Ranger Field, so it's appropriate that the school dedicated the field to Gooden amidst the homecoming festivities Friday night in Camp Hill.

The dedication included 25 former players and a bronze plaque, which will be mounted near the field in his honor.

Amanda Kelly - The new Executive Director Greetings from the Alumni Center and Museum, located on the beautiful campus of your
Alma Mater, Lyman Ward Military Academy. I am honored to serve as your Executive
Director. I believe in the purpose and ideals of LWMA and share your Ranger pride and spirit.The Alumni Association serves as a perpetual bridge between members past,
present, and future and the Academy, insuring you will always be a part of Lyman Ward as it will always be a part of you.

Southern Industrial Institute and Lyman Ward Military Academy have a rich history and a
strong tradition of excellence. You are a part of this history and tradition, if you have
attended, graduated, taught, worked, or given in any way to these fine institutions. A
strong and active Alumni Association helps maintain this lifetime of pride, passion, tradition, and excellence. Annual Membership is $25.00 and Lifetime Membership
$500.00 and our new year has just begun. You can take pride in knowing your tax-
deductible membership contribution will be helping provide academics, athletics, and
leadership for current LWMA cadets. The mission of the Alumni Association is to insure
longevity of Lyman Ward Military Academy and your membership and participation help
keep the long time traditions alive and prosperous.

The Alumni Center and Museum is open Monday through Friday and during special
events. Please drop by, visit, reminisce, and share your stories.

The Parent Support Group is constantly working donating their time and money to fix, clean and make Lyman Ward the best of the best. Any donations of time, money, supplies would be greatly appreciated.
