Comments: What prompted me to do a search for LWMA tonight on the internet is a spiritual mystery. I was thrilled to see it is still
there and not overgrown with weeds which I half expected. I was saddened to see Randy Rainwater's passing. He and his
girlfriend were the homecoming king and queen in 69/70. Great looking couple. I see my old nemesis (he was my First
Sgt.) BJ Bean is alive and well. As I recall, Tim Parker was Battalion Commander my last year at LWMA. I would enjoy
reestablishing contact with Paul Tate and John Strunk whom I last spoke with in the 1980's. I attended LWMA from 1968
- 1970. Held a record for punishment tours at the flagpole!
Thank you Lt Col Brown.

Comments: I went to Military Day at LWMA and I was very impressed with how the school has grown. I saw some people I had not
seen in 30 years. I told Ray (Dog) Blackburn as the boys marched on to the field that things had changed, but they have
not changed at all. The same gray coats the same white pants the same feeling of pride as we felt when the command of
"Pass in Review" was given. 30 years ago I was glad to leave 30 years later I am glad to return. I have been to a lot of
places and have seen a lot of things, but Lyman Ward Military Academy is were I learned to be a man.

After graduating from Lyman Ward, I joined the United States Air Force and spent 23 years retiring in 1994. I married a wonderful and beautiful lady from Switzerland and have been married for 27 years. We have no children. While in the Air Force, we lived 11 years in Germany. We enjoyed traveling and visiting with my wife's family, which live in France and Switzerland. I am currently attending college full time.

Robert Johnson '78 & William Johnson '76
Oh, Brother Where Art Thou?
They say that blood is thicker than water. Perhaps the Johnson boys best demonstrate this to the letter. Robert Johnson graduated from Lyman Ward in 1978 after attending for four years. William Johnson attended Lyman Ward from 1974 to 1976.
Robert Johnson received his BS degree in biology from Auburn University in 1982. William Johnson received his BS degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University in 1982.
Robert Johnson earned his doctorate in Biochemistry from Cornell University in 1992. William Johnson earned his doctorate from the University of Maryland in Biochemistry in 1994.
Robert Johnson completed his Post-Doctoral work at Harvard/MIT in 1995. William Johnson completed his Post-Doctoral work at Vanderbilt University in 1997.
Robert and William Johnson live in Lafayette, New Jersey with their respective families. Robert and William are both employed with Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals. Robert is the Laboratory Director and Principal Scientist. William is a scientist and Director of Pathology.
Robert, on his Lyman Ward experience stated, "I learned the value of relationships at Lyman Ward. You cannot walk alone. Independence is a wonderful thing." William is quoted as saying, "I was not easy to handle. I learned how to choose battles carefully. The structure was at the right time in my life. At times I did not like it, but needed it."
They spoke to their closeness in their relationship as they discussed their lives and mutually agree on the important role Lyman Ward played in their respective futures.
In the case of Johnson brothers, they have no desire to ask "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" They only have to look down the street or into one another's laboratory. We understand that they are giving one another test tubes for Christmas (a joke). Let us salute science and the Johnson brothers. We are better because of their lives and what they achieve with each passing day.

Email from LTC Barry L. Stuckey '78
(From the December 2003 Sentinel)
Dee,
I am on R&R at Qatar and have a little time scanning the Internet and I thought I would see if you had an email address. Found the LWMA website, then the Alumni, and walla, here I am. I have been in the Middle East since 1 March, and in Baghdad on and off since that time, but have remained here since July. I do not know what the news is telling everyone, but we are making a difference, and the Iraqi people are happy that we came. There is still lots of work to do, because you can still see the effects that the Baath's left upon these people and their country's infrastructure.
Enough about where the 5th century meets the 3rd world. I guess another year at LWMA is gearing up. I hope the school is doing well. Most of my fondest childhood memories were made at that institution. It's hard to believe that I have been in the Army for over 23 years now. For as much as I do not communicate regularly, you have always been my favorite teacher, and my love of history blossomed through you. I know in those early years you took a lot of stuff from us students, but you hung in there and taught us despite our refusal to pay attention. To this day, I look for a teacher that still believes in essay tests for my own kids because that's what colleges expect, and your classes prepared me for that standard. I know it has been 25 years since I graduated, but thanks for being my teacher, mentor and of course war gaming partner. Have a great year and tell everyone that knew me, Hi and God Bless.
